BUT, with the recent passage of the law that allows Notary Publics to marry couples, many Notaries have jumped on the bandwagon and began officiating.

HOWEVER, I have been told that they are not following the law. As an officiant I must confirm intent, YOU MUST SAY I DO OR YES I WANT TO MARRY and pronounce the couple as married. It is very important you get someone that understands their responsibilities and complies with the law of the state.
